I Am Rico Norel was proclaimed the champion of the 2024 NRPS Stallion Licensing, which concluded with a second phase at Flevodrome in Lelystad (NED) on 23 March 2024.
A record collection of 117 stallions was presented this year at the first phase in February and 22 dressage bred colts were selected there for the actual licensing on 23 March.
Two stallions were accepted for breeding, six were named premium stallion.
The majority of the dressage colts are KWPN bred and registered and so is champion I Am Rico Norel, who is originally named "Rico Norel". He is by Iron x Uphill and did not make it past the second phase with the 2024 KWPN Stallion Licensing. NRPS proclaimed him champion.
The Norel family also presented the reserve champion of the NRPS licensing: Express Norel (by Expression x Oscar), whose KWPN name is Roglic Norel.
The third ranked stallion was Le Rio Grande (by Las Vegas x Bordeaux), bred by Yardena Schillings and co-owned with Louise Kortstee.
The other three premium stallions were stable Laarakkers' Danny Boy (by Dream Boy x Tolando - breeder: L Kirkwood), Mambo (by Mac Madison x Toto Jr - breeder: N. Bekendam & R&I Veninga - owners: Veninga & Matty Marissink Stables), and the very busy Stal van de Sande and L Horses' Sarai L (by Secret x For Romance I), who in a few months time had to appear at the licensings for NRPS, KWPN and Danish warmblood and got accepted by them all.
