Olivers Equestrian, the dressage training and sales business ran by the mother-daughter duo Niki and Hermione Tottman, has moved to a prestigious new location, a historic English estate in Shropshire, Great Britain.

Olivers Equestrian

Olivers Equestrian was founded by the Tottman family at their yard in Hertfordshire. They created a haven for their competition horses and ponies to flourish and as of 2019 opened the doors of their modern, elite performance dressage stable to clients who wanted to train and grow in a private and peaceful environment.

Niki and Hermione celebrated many years of success at this property, producing their own horses and ponies to competition success internationally, while welcoming a stream of talented young riders for production, including matching many of them with their next partners via their global network.

Committed to supporting their clients in their dreams of competing at FEI level, Niki and Hermione quickly saw all boxes in the barn filled. On top of that they had started an embryotransfer programme, breeding horses out of exquisite bloodlines.

"We bred a selection of promising offspring out of our Revolution mare and at the same time our international equine agency continued to scale," Niki Tottman explained. "Soon it became clear that a business expansion would become necessary in the not too distant future."

Searching For a New Base

Olivers Equestrian was growing out of its seams in Hertfordshire and the search for their next base began.

"There were clear non-negotiable elements which we held in our minds as we looked far and wide," said Niki. "Through both the UK and Europe we knew for certain we would settle only for the very best for our horses and clients. We envisioned a property with presence and extensive top-class facilities which would allow our horses to blossom, bring great enjoyment and progress to our clients. We wanted full freedom for our business to grow to new heights."

Although they looked across the borders, the family found a new home in the U.K., succeeding in their mission.

"Our relocation landed within a very busy, but successful end to the competition season for us," said Hermione. " Our horses competed at the National Championships, gained top placings at the Aintree High Profile Show and I attended the Team GB U21’s international squad training."

Prestigious New Base on Historic English Estate

They moved to Hardwick Hall Estate.

Hardwick Hall Estate
Nestled within the stunning countryside and rolling hills lies a sprawling English estate, centered by an impressive 17th century manor house and surrounded with newly renovated, elegant and idyllic equestrian facilities. An environment with the ambience of old english country lifestyle, paired with facilities equipped for producing the next generation of equestrian talent.

The stalls are a spacious 5 x 5m, the main barn is kitted out with solarium, overhead heated water supply, roomy cross ties and high roofs providing ample fresh air flow. The Olympic size outdoor arena is fitted with dressage mirrors on the long and short side.  There is a lunge ring, a Monarch horsewalker, and on-site trails for hacking. The separate medical room provides space for all veterinary and health related products to be kept in a segregated and sanitised environment, and also contributes space for upkeeping FEI clean sport values.

The paddocks for the turn-out of competition horses are located within a picturesque, original red brick walled garden, but there are also bigger fields on the rolling hills for year-round grazing with a view on the lake and surrounded by a blanket of vast trees from the nearby wood.

"We plan to host a range of services for our clients as of the New Year," Niki explained. "We plan to offer opportunities for riders and horses to be based with us for both long and short-term training and production. We tailored these to their individual requirements and goals. We offer two high level professionals on-site: myself as an international coach Niki and my daughter as an international Young Rider."

The Tottmans highly esteem privacy and serenity as they aim to create a sanctuary for training and breeding.

"Clients based with us will be able to enjoy the privacy of their very own facilities," said Hermione. "Our base is equipped with ‘two of each.' They will have access to their own tack room, own rug and store room, and separate spacious indoor barn - all based within near vicinity of our own, so that we are quickly accessible but clients are also able to relax in their own space with their horses."

Olivers Equestrian is proud to have trained and developed many successful young riders including BD Youth champions, Team GB talent and European Championship team members. They produced a number of horses and ponies that have been sold to international level FEI riders across Europe.
