With great sadness VDL Stud reported today that their favourite breeding stallion Nimmerdor has passed away in his sleep last night. The bay stallion was 31 years old. Nimmerdor, by Farn x Koridon xx, was born in 1972 and bred by J.A. Dijkstra from Woudsend, The Netherlands.
Nimmerdor stood up for stud at Wiepke van de Lageweg's VDL Stud his entire life. The KWPN association proclaimed him Preferent stallion and Stallion of the Century in 2000. He was one of the few Dutch sires who was able to produce offspring that competed at international Grand Prix level in both dressage and show jumping. Nimmerdor has always been considered to be one of the foundations sires of the KWPN Studbook.
