At the 2023 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, the American owned stallion Hirtentanz was named "Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2023".

The rising 21-year old Hirtentanz is by Axis TSF out of state premium mare Herzlani (by Kostolany x Ginster). He is bred by Veronika von Schöning.

The black was the best Trakehner foal at the 2003 regional foal show in Schleswig Holstein.  After he got approved as a 2,5 year he started his career in show jumping and has been competed up to S-level with Philipp Hartmann. He achieved 31 victories and 140 placings up to S*** level.

He first stood at stud in Germany at stallion station Kretschmer but was owned by David Beattie of KD Trakehners in the U.S.A.

Hirtentanz was named Elite sire as he had sired five licensed sons (Abendtanz, Dürrenmatt, Tarison, Dein Erbe and Hirtenstern) and produced before 2015.

In March 2015 Hirtentanz sold to Joe Pimentel of Aqua Farms in Panama City, Florida and he moved the stallion to the USA in 2019.

Hirtentanz has also sired 93 Trakehner daughters of which 36 were named state premium mares. He has 164 offspring registered for sport in Germany, who have achieved 340 victories and 2,384 placings.

"Due to his special and proven performance influence on Trakehner breeding, Hirtentanz receives the title “Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2023”," the Trakehner Verband communicated on Facebook.
