Dutch warmblood breeder Ruud van Nobelen announced on Facebook yesterday the passing of the preferent KWPN mare O.Esther. She was 23 years old.

O.Esther was bred by the late, legendary Huub van Helvoirt. She was by Jazz out of J.Esther (by Ulft x Amor).

The mare produced no less than 21 foals in her life, in most recent years several through embryotransfer.

O.Esther was named preferent 'prestatie' mare by the KWPN society as she managed to produce no less than two internationally successful Grand Prix offspring: Asther de Jeu (Tosca Visser-van der Meulen) and Brother de Jeu (Antonia Ramel). At national level she further produced the Grand Prix horse Esther VSN (by Voice) and the small tour horse W.Esther de Jeu (by Rousseau).

She also produced the approved stallion Jazzuan SVN (by Sezuan), who recently failed the performance test in Germany though and still has to do his performance test for the KWPN.

Emmy de Jeu acquired O.Esther at Van Helvoirt's place as a foal in September 1996 (see video), but sold her to Ruud van Nobelen in 2009.

Van Nobelen is expecting three further ET ICSI foals out of O.Esther for 2019.
